Changing plans and retesting FTP
I did an hour long workout a few days ago with 20x30 seconds on 1:30 recovery that had a NP higher than my FTP. I tested FTP 4 weeks ago. I would probably be retesting in another 4 weeks, should I retest now instead, or just stick to my plan.

Thanks

No harm in retesting if you can fit it into your schedule with no problems. But if fitting in a test means skipping or replacing some key workouts in order to be fresh for the test then I'd be inclined to wait another 4 weeks. You can always increase target power in your workouts if they feel too easy.

I don't think NP for very short hard intervals is necessarily a good indication of FTP, I've had some very high NP numbers from bike races where I've been putting in lots of short surges. Think it's more an indication of anaerobic capacity.

Yes, test now because you might not be training hard enough. Remember that "Testing is training. Training is testing". The FTP test is a hard workout in itself.
