Bottle position, mainly. The aluminum one has more adjustment, and with my PN3.1 saddle specifically the aluminum allows me to get the bottle slightly higher and closer to my butt. Slightly easier to reach. Also, the carbon one is wider because it has a space to put a spare tube. I don't need that and would rather have the bottles closer together. I figure that's more aero as well. The alu two piece design also looks more aero from the front compared to the solid carbon which looks like a tiny parachute below the saddle, if that makes sense.
Edit: Adding pictures from the side. Notice the bottom bolt was a bit below the rail, now it's above. The bottle was about 1cm from the seat and now it is in contact. The two bottle cages are also more than 1cm closer together. Looks much tighter and better positioned, imo.
