If it's a structured workout and not just a Z2 ride, the focus should be on the workout, TV is secondary.

My Zwift workouts are attention consuming, however when I get to 95% ftp for build getting to 4x9 minutes or more, I find TV a nice distraction from grinding the interval out.
I do like shows like Ridiculousness that has short clips that don't require to pay total attention.
I also watch sports from the night before that ran late, so over the span of a 2 hour bball game or 3 hour football game (FF through commercials and some sections to fit in workout time) it's not always captivating.

For the long 3 hour Z2 rides, that's what I fire up a new movie or rental on Fire Stick and settle in to plug in and spin.
I don't have Netflix, so I can't Netflix and spin. ;)

The question is not whether it can be done but whether it will be enjoyable.

Drama with subtitles, documentaries, sitcom, biographies, etc- <75%

Horror < 80%

Action < 90%

Running, bike racing, ITU up to the intensity of racing

Electronic music concert for above 90% FTP

The type of TV is a crucial choice. I need to have a lot of car chases, machine gun fire and general dumb-headed drama while riding. 24 was a good example of a show so idiotic I could never watch it in real life, but was great on the trainer. Downton Abbey was the opposite.

Large explosions are also good. The opening scene of Beverly Hills Cop is a prime example of perfect TV, though I nearly rode off the rollers during the car chase

I'm switching more to structured indoor training than outdoors and figured I would equally shift some TV viewing away from the lounge to the trainer. I've been surprised at how little TV either I want to or can watch. Can't watch TV and pay any attention to the show at or above 80% FTP on any kind of sustained basis and its 75% if it has any fluctuations and not steady state. Not sure if that relates to not previously doing as much indoors or if that's a common situation people find themselves in. Interested to hear what people's cut off is as a percentage of FTP where they need to concentrate and can't really watch TV.

I listen to music when I'm on the indoor trainer. I also like to listen to podcasts. I can listen to a podcast when I'm warming up, but when it's time to work it needs to be music and for me at least, the music needs to be pretty heavy and up tempo. I'm generally at 85% FTP when I'm "working". I could probably do 60-65% FTP on podcast, but no more than that.
