Taking Ibuprofen constantly in small amounts also does not make much sense. If you have an injury it is much better to take the maximum dose for a week and see what happens. That way you calm your immune system and eventually clear the inflammation. Then you can start to work on the underlying problem.

I don't take them unless I have an EXTREMELY bad hangover and only then because I know there is no way I will be running in that state.

I avoid them at all costs typically. I don't feel they even work when I do legitimately need to relieve pain.

No more tris for me but race bikes and play volleyball. I don't take ibuprofen for endurance training, but take 200 mg before volleyball and another 200 mg after volleyball. At any given time, I am nursing a sprained toe or have lower back pain. As I get older (34) arthritis in my ankles flare up and makes it easier to take ibuprofen too.

I definitely don’t take ibuprofen during a workout. It would be unusual for me to take it right after a workout. I will take it at other times but I don’t make it a habit. I try to only take it when I really need it. Normally if any pain I have is preventing me from sleeping which is rare. Beyond that I take a multivitamin some probiotics and whatever random pills my nurse wife throws at me. Most of those may or may not help but they are pretty innocuous

Multi vitamin

Fish oil
Cholest off with plant sterols.

Pre race day I will do aleve in the PM to get rid of any niggles to get sleep.
Race day, 2 aleve before race. IM distance I will take 1 aleve in T1 and 1 in T2 just to keep the pain down.
1 aleve the morning after.

Nothing after.

Check with a doc to make sure you're ok with the pills, though.

I never take ibuprofen/NSAIDs except when I'm super hungover.

However I take daily:
- Fish Oil 3,900mg
- Vitamin D3 4,000 IU
- Zinc 100mg
- Magnesium Citrate 750mg

I take a scoop of protein at breakfast too (25g), and sometimes after hard workout if I cannot eat right away.
For jetlag I pop 10mg of melatonin the first few nights.

If you need anti inflammatory & pain medication look for CBD.
