For example, The Good Wife. Julianna Margulies' character was made to appear good by the way better actors and characters on that show. The Good Fight spinoff is excellent, and JM's character is nowhere to be found. Not a coincidence.

Sopranos. Pauly and Sal always cracked me up.
Seinfeld. Seinfeld himself was probably the least funny part of that show. The regular supporting cast (his parents, George's parents, Newman, etc) and the non regular supporting cast (soup Nazi, David puddy, etc) made that show.
Long Chile was a silly place.

Damn what a brilliant job of casting that was. They were bunch of nobodies when that show started.

I think Seinfeld would agree with you, which is why he worked with such a stellar bunch.

I liked the main characters plenty, but the supporting cast in Breaking Bad was pretty great. Saul Goodman and Mike Ehrmentraut were terrific, Tuco Salamanca’s spun up brand of crazy was solid, and I thought Badger and Skinny Pete were pretty funny at times.

WKRP in Cincinnati
My fave is "The Lavender Files"
Admittedly, the cast used to be much better.
Mr. Tibbs was a standout in the early years. The series has gone downhill since then. Over the years a number of excellent characters have moved on. Khai, Tom Demerly, JenHS, Theforge all come to mind. Somehow, it keeps going without them.
I like some of the current cast. Big Kahuna is strong as the oafish villain, slowman is compelling in his role as the bumbling but lovable boss, much like WKRP's Mr Carlson. Windywave recently reappeared as the doltish midwesterner. He plays the role well. Duffy has come on strong in recent years, but he is a poor man's Tibbs. JSA continues his role as the idiotic lawyer, repeatedly not making sense and refusing to ever give ground even when he is 100% wrong. It would be impressive if it wasn't so sad.
And of course, there is the ever expanding cast of Canadians ... as in most US-based series, there are lots. Probably need to build a wall.
