Little surprise that nobody mentioned this, but that isn't the Mt Lemmon record in my book. Lionel went to observatory and that is something like another 7+ miles and 2,000 feet of climbing. I haven't been on Strava in a while but it is looking like it is mighty disorganized mess with listing of duplicate KOMs and then not even crediting people with doing certain rides. Anyway, no way shape or form is this an apples-to-apples unless I am missing something. My best guess is if Lionel really cared he could take it back.

yes, i generally regard that as the climb. and yes, i think lionel could take that if he wanted. but others could also go faster as well.

I don't think IM Arizona has Colombia altitude mountains. Meaning, above 5 to 6k feet, the power is going to be measurably less at altitude. And that ride got up there. So, that's worth a good amount of power.

I was on Mt Lemmon the day Lionel took the KOM on his LG gennix TT bike. I remember it well, I got engaged to my current wife at the top!

I admire your restraint. Most of the Lionel Lovers on slowtwitch would have kicked the lady to the side and proposed to Lionel instead.

Not to mention topping out at over 12,000' where is power output is probably close to 30% lower than sea level.

This is not a comparison worth making in any way shape or form.

Based on some of the data that Phil has published via Strava, I'm pretty sure his FTP is in the ballpark of 375-385 and he weighs significantly less.

Phil would take AT on a straight-up 15-20 minute climb now, but at the end of a longer ride it'd end up the same where endurance factors. I ride with AT a bit and when he starts pushing on pedals, the power is still there. Mt. Lemon would be an interesting one as it's more of a TTer's climb.

Looks to me that Lionel has figured it out, or enough people around him have gotten through. He's very self-aware right now, so good on him.
