School me on TV wall mounts
I have a 32" TV that I bought in 2008. At the same time I bought a wallmount that was listed as for 32"-37" TVs.

This TV is acting up. I would love to replace it with something bigger but I am an ignoramus.

37" TVs aren't made any more. I can get a 40" TV.

  • Will it fit on the wall mount?
  • Is the wall mount rated for 32-37" TVs based on weight? If so, Shirley a 40" TV today weighs less than a 37" TV did in 2008.

Help a brother out. Can I put a 40" TV on that wall mount?

How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?

Just nail the TV to the wall mount. Should be fine.

Long Chile was a silly place.

Why are you measuring TVs in inches not centimeters?

You should be fine, the biggest issue is the weight, but also the mounting pattern on the back of the TV. Yes a 40-inch TV now will weigh far less then your old TV, just make sure the mounting pattern is compatible.

But to answer ur question u need to know the vesa standard of ur tv mount and ur future tv. Here’s a helpful link:

All TVs and mounts use a standard bolt pattern - VESA. There are a few different sizes of VESA, but TVs similar in size use the same, and most mounts work with a few different sizes.

If you new TV uses a huge size, like 600x400, don't expect it to fit on a smaller mount.

But as everyone says, otherwise weight is the only factor. If the small mount has a bunch of adjustments, a heavier TV will limit that - like it'll always tilt down.
