Curious as to whether you got a satisfying answer as to what "the religious people" had to say about this? We were going to have a meeting of "the religious people" last week, but we had to cancel.

Honestly, about 90% of our societal and political problems could be alleviated if we could stop with this kind of crap. There is no such thing as "the religious people" insofar as they might have a common response to any issue. It's no different than trying to posit what "the blacks," or "the rich," or "the birthday clown performers" might all think about something.

You're over responding. Its really a question of do you believe in evolution? The "no" side is usually composed of people who call themselves religious.

Again, this is about how we communicate with each other. You've taken "The group that believes X is usually heavy on religious people" and turned it into "the religious people likely have X opinion." That's not how it works.

People who are morbidly obese in the U.S. typically like to eat pizza and burgers (as a made up example). That doesn't mean that people who enjoy burgers and pizza are are likely to be morbidly obese.

As soon as you start with "I wonder what 'the religious people' think about X" you raise a bunch of hackles for people who consider themselves religious, and don't care to be lumped in with whatever group of idiots you're trying to criticize.
