Many people on the forum are familiar with Lake Wanaka in NZ either through the Challenge race or their own travels.

Yesterday, a local woman swam its length in what's believed to be the first successful effort to do so. 45km in just over 16hr.

Today, it's appalling weather...lashing rain, gale norwester, and big waves (as an aside, the Red Bull Defiance multisport race started today, and there are still kayakers out there)...she's probably glad she's not out there today.
