Tri bike fit - Chicagoland area
Any recommendations on getting a tri bike fit(P3) in the Chicagoland area? There was a previous discussion but its outdated.

Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!

I don't think Anne, formerly of Live Grit, has re-set up shop yet. Ripley at 51 Speedshop or Travis Rassat at Vector in Indy would be the top of the "local" list. Adam at Get-a-Grip is competent but I wouldn't put him on Dave Luscan/Eric Reid/Trent Nix level. Not the biggest fan of manual fit bikes.

I've had multiple fits by Adam at Get-a-Grip and been happy with them all.

Didn't realize Live Grit closed up shop. Bummer.

Ed and Christ at Element are Retul certified. I've been fit there and have no issues.

I second Element. I've had both my P3 and road bike fit by them.

I just communicated via email the other day with Anne Barnes and she is actually opening up her own fit studio within the next couple of weeks in the West Town area.

Not to single you out at all, but I am compiling a list of fitters I would recommend around the country, and I am always interested in seeing the finished product when I read a recommendation for a specific fitter. Do you have photo or video to share? I will not critique it. Just curious.

But to the OP, as of right now, Anne Barnes would be the gal.

Good to know! Been thinking about tweaking things witht my fit but wasn’t sure who to go to around the area. Always seems hit or miss and I didn’t want to drive to noblesville where I know a few fitters have great reviews.

Johnny_5, my fit studio, Fit2Ride Velo Studio, is located in Highland Park and I would be happy to talk to you about your fit. I am equipped with a Guru Dynamic Fit Unit and all of the pertinent tools. I have been fitting professionally for over 10 years in the Chicagoland area and am FIST Advanced certified. I am also a Cervelo retailer so I have access to all of the parts we may need for your P3. You can reach me at brian@fit2ridevelo.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

i had a bad bike fit experience with Anne. left with numbers so bad they didn't make sense, was not explained why my fit coordinates were unorthodox, was suggested bikes she basically had in her store and didn't have any video of my fit.

Look elsewhere in the Chicagoland area.

I have heard nothing but good things about her fitting. I have never had a fit from her so I can't speak from experience.

Take a very short drive and see Craig Watson at Bikebikesbikes.com located in Endurance House in Madison. He is a true perfectionist, an incredibly smart guy with amazing connections and has been doing it for years. He also was a world class duathlete so gets it. I just had a session with him, and he took so much time and really spends time to show how involved and caring he is. My session was probably one of the most thorough I've ever had in over 30 years and he really knows his stuff.
