pain cave device holder, ideas??
I have my trainer set up in my basement, with TV and fan. It's a fairly basic setup using Trainerroad and virtual power, which I typically run on my phone. my only "issue" is that because I'm not using a smart trainer, I need to keep an eye on the phone while I'm watching TV, right now I have it set up so that the phone and TV remote are sitting on a large cardboard box off to the left (next to the handlebar). The issue is that it's not in my line of sight, so I find I'm sometimes missing when the interval is supposed to start or end.

I need something that will put the phone in front of me, but not mounted to the bar since I usually have a towel sitting there. I could build something, but I was wondering if any of you smart and resourceful people have found something that works or have already solved this issue somehow.

thanks!

Rolling medical desk. I have this one (http://a.co/d/5SZekLq) and it's awesome. The vertical bar is offset a touch so i can pull it back within an inch or so of my (road) handlebars. Also, cheap.

you might be able to clamp this onto your handlebars or a tray table:

A music/mic stand with a tray works for me.

I have this ikea desk and it's perfect as well as reasonably priced. It's actually big enough to where I have my TV sitting on it and can put 2 blower style fans on it (off to each side) and still have plenty of room for my phone/ipad and bottles right in front of me.

Not exactly the same one, and I don't use it for trainer rides, but I picked up a similar holder at a local HomeGoods for about $10. I work from home a lot and have it clamped to the side of my desk to hold my phone at roughly face level.

DCR has some clever ideas for building a very inexpensive device thing from music stand parts. https://www.dcrainmaker.com/...de-trainer-bike.html

I got the Wahoo table, and I freakin' love it. It is worth every penny to me.

I use this phone mount for indoor riding. It works great, needs no special back like a Quad Mount and its easy to get on and off the bars when heading outside. It was only $12. https://www.amazon.com/...ge?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As for a table, I just got this music stand which makes a nice portable bike side table for $37. It does go flat so it makes a nice table. https://www.amazon.com/...ge?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the wahoo table is nice, but way out of my budget. I don't need fancy, I just need something that will hold my phone.

great ideas everyone. Thanks...

My bike / trainer is in my bedroom surrounded by a dog (baby) gate.

I use this laptop arm to hold wireless mouse, keyboard, phone (or table). It hangs off the desk out over top of my cockpit.

I use these dual monitor arms on my desk with my computer. When I ride, I swing the one monitor up to the other direction facing the trainer. This way I can Zwift/netflix/game/browse.

I can post a picture later tonight.

If you like the $250 Wahoo desk but don't care for the price

- this desk is available from Walmart for $28

I just use a phone holder for a stroller and the clamp tightens nicely to the brake on the basebar, and I put my towel around it. It's out front enough that I can see it in the aero position while doing workouts, and doesn't interfere if I need to take a rest and hold onto the basebar.

I think we got it at Toys R Us or Amazon for like $10 or so.

I seriously considered the Wahoo desk for the longest time, and instead tried the medial tables as I couldn't justify the cost. In general I found the medical table too finicky and unstable, but stuck with it for about a year until I bought this Cycling Trainer Desk/table from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/...00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It's awesome. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it

I put my phone into my BTA bottle cage (wedged into place w/ a rolled up wash cloth). Sweat towel hangs on the bull horns.

my BTA would be almost directly under my chin, between my elbows. That's too much sweat dripping directly on my phone for my comfort level. I like to have the towel so it catches any sweat before it gets on the bike. Besides, I have the roadie on there now, and will probably put a mountain bike on it as it gets closer to race season.

I had a look at that today at Walmart (I had to go there anyway to get beef stew seasoning). I'm considering it. There are a couple of laptop tables at Ikea that might work as well. Or I might be stubborn and just make something, since I'm really not happy with the workout space overall.

I second the music stand. That is what I use. Never tried a desk or medical table, but I like that I can set my devices up on an angle for the best viewing. I can pull it in close to my bars, angle it around, and raise/lower it till it is just right.

I have a power-strip taped to the back of it with my phone charger, ipad charger, and headphones charger plugged in. I then put velcro on my TV remote, apple TV remote, fan remote, and speaker remote so I have a row of remotes velcro-ed to the top of the stand. My music stand has become my little trainer control panel.

Third vote for a music stand

I have one like this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/...keywords=music+stand

sit the stand flat and it'll hold a laptop fine with room for a water bottle, tv remote and your phone or tilt it up for a tablet. Couldn't ever imagine spending Wahoo desk type money on a table when the alternatives are like 10x cheaper!

I bought this knock off Wahoo desk last week and it’s quite simply the greatest thing ever.

So, after all that, I realized tonight while I was on my 90 minute trainer ride that I could simply cut a large hole out of one side of the cardboard box I use. problem solved, cost $0...

Thanks folks...
