zwift v. garmin calorie calculations?

i’ve been using my garmin forerunner / garmin connect to log all my activities for a while.

since i’ve started using zwift for all my indoor training i just let zwift dump my ride to garmin connect.

i’ve now started using zwift for the dreadmill, and started doing the same as my rides, dump the ride and data straight to garmin connect.

i’ve noticed there is a pretty large disparity between the calculations that garmin would natively do for my burnt calories versus what zwift does. zwift is A LOT lower than garmin, or garmin is overshooting burnt calories A LOT. i’m not sure which.

anyone have any knowledge of how zwift calculates your calories burnt during an activity?
