LOCAL RACE ATTRACTS PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES WITH PRIZE PURSE
Decorated professional athletes Alicia Kaye and Jarrod Shoemaker have already committed to supporting and racing the 2019 Cherrylake Farm Races in Groveland on February 9th.

GROVELAND, FL -- Cherrylake Farm Races has announced a prize purse for its Third Annual Duathlon Race. The race will be held February 9, 2019 at Cherrylake’s tree farm in Groveland, Florida, in conjunction with a 5k and 10k race. The prize money will be offered to the top three competitors across the finish line of both the male and female duathlon races. First places will win $300 each. Second places will win $200 each and third places will win $100 each.
Cherrylake Farm Races, which includes a 5k, 10k and duathlon, sold out last year, with participants traveling from as far as Georgia to participate in the races . This year, the organizers have increased the capacity of the venue to accomodate the excitement around this unique race, and allow for a higher number of participants.
“A prize purse for professional multisport athletes has not been offered in South Lake County in many years”, says Race Director Kimberly Grogan. “There are many professional multisport athletes living in the area that are enthusiastic about getting to race in their own community.” Cherrylake Farm Races is hopeful the prize purse will increase the possibility of attracting professionals to travel to the area for the race, and increase the collaboration within the local community of both professional and age group racing. Decorated professional athletes Alicia Kaye and Jarrod Shoemaker have already committed to supporting and racing this event.
The details of the duathlon race have been enhanced from previous years. The duathlon race consists of a 5k run through the tree lined trails on the farm, a bike on the paved, rolling hills of Groveland, and finishes with a 2.5k run on the trails. The race organizers have modified the transition area of the duathlon to now be a pass through transition down a long driveway; which will make it the most fair race possible. The finish chute and the run to and from transition have been positioned away from each other in order to ensure the safest and cleanest route for all participants. There will also be two USAT officials overseeing the race to assure the race is as fair as possible.
This prize purse and added amenities for all racers would not be possible without the support of the committed sponsors. Director of Marketing and OD at Cherrylake, Chloe Gentry, explains “We have had tremendous support from the local business and community. We are thankful for the support of our sponsors and the opportunity to open our 1,000 acre farm to a series of races that promotes wellness and sustainability within our community.”
The sponsors secured for the 2019 Cherrylake Farm Races are LiveTrends Design Group for unique age group awards, Link Printing for all of signage needs, Oakwood Smokehouse for delicious post race food, Cherrylake, Inc. for race venue and organization, and Gear for Multisport for race organization. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available.

Sweet! Thanks for sharing.
Looks like it’s 1 week after Powerman Arizona, which is perfect timing, because I’m sure that Powerman will get cancelled :)

I hope not as I'm registered! Why do you think it would be? PM Colorado last fall was cancelled for numerous reasons but hasn't PM Arizona been going for years? Previously as the Desert Classic Duathlon, I think.

I don’t think it’ll get cancelled this year; just a tongue in cheek comment based on previous years’ events getting cancelled.

The pro field does look super stacked with a view elite Europeans making the trip. Happy to see that in the duathlon world.
