So I just started on zwift this week using an iPad and am liking it very much. What I would like to do now is get a much bigger screen to view it on. Any recommendations on an affordable big screen monitor and how those set it up? Relatedly, can I broadcast from a iPhone or iPad to a big monitor? Thanks in advance.

You can get a lightning to HDMI cable and plug your iPad directly into pretty much any TV you can buy today. The apple version is about $50, but I would recommend getting that one vs the 3rd party. I use one for my treadmill and it works very well, no issues. Wife is the most frequent user of the treadmill so believe me, I'd hear about it if it didn't work.

I bought the cheap converter for $20. It’s coming today I hope it works.
People with a new galaxy note phone and a Samsung smart tv don’t need anything is what it looks like from my research. Just enable the mirroring function on the phone.

I just airplay it to my apple TV from my ipad or macbook - occasionally there's a bit of lag when riding in a big pack so a lot of moving pixels, but most of the time it works flawlessly.

Yep. I have a video-out HDMI cable that stays plugged into a cheap big screen TV that sits in front of my bike. It makes the experience amazing. Can't recommend it enough.
Something funny I might try is putting black tape on the screen where the watts show up to keep me from chasing numbers and going too hard every workout. I run my bike computer at the same time, so I can look down at it instead if I really need to know. Cadence and HR is great, but that watt value is like chasing a heroin dragon.

Any modern tv will work as long as it has HDMI port.
Go to Walmart and buy this adaptor. Picture attached. Then go take your HDMI cable and plug it into the HDMI port in back of the TV.
Change your input on the TV to whatever HDMI port you are plugged into (1 or 2 etc.) It will mirror your iPad onto the TV screen.
Good luck

Since I can't see the exact adaptor you suggest, the only caution I will add with a Lightning to HDMI adapter is to get one that allows you to simultaneously charge as well, otherwise you could end up having short Zwift sessions since it's a power heavy app.
