Pannier Rack/Bag Recommendation?
Through a fortuitous series of events it appears that I'll be able to bike commute to the pool around lunch/dinner time every day this winter (Florida). Yesterday was day one however I found that I don't enjoy riding with a backpack. Does anyone here have an recommendations for pannier racks/bags? For what it's worth, the bike is a steel Marin.... something... that I bought off of Craigslist. The rear hub has a funky spec: 141x9mm. I don't know if that matters.

You don't like riding with a backpack on your back? What about riding with a backpack on your bike?

Be sure to pickup the rain cover if you buy this.

I use a Topeak Explorer MTX with Nashbar waterproof Panniers. Works great for holding my work clothes, lunch, and occasionally running shoes for when I do a morning brick.

Depending on how much stuff you need to carry, another option is a saddle bag like this:

I'm not sure of commuter bags but for touring, the best racks by far are from Tubus and for panniers, it would be Ortlieb.

Cool, thanks for the recommendation. I just don't like having a bag on my back. I don't know why but my back has always been a sweat factory.

I second that. I used that same combination for a 2 week cycling trip across Spain once. Stellar.

I love my Ortleibs. I would definitely recommend them if you do not need a bunch of interior pockets.
