Hi
Wondering what bottle cages people are using with the aero pouch?
I have an xlab cage and it is very tight getting a bottle in and out.
Thanks

XLAB updated the pouch to be easier to get a bottle out of. Do you have the old one? When I had the Aero Pouch I used a Gorilla XT cage with no issues.

I use a cheap one off Amazon. I weighed it when I got it. My memory is a little fuzzy but I think it weighed in as lighter than the Gorilla cages. I've never lost a bottle despite fairly rough Maine roads and it was cheap. Obviously the fuller the pouch the better the grip. https://www.amazon.com/...ge?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’ve got the new version... switched my gorilla XT for regular trek / Bontrager composite cage... setup is great, holds great yet easy to remove... bag holds all I need.. and looks good. love the setup

I have an XLAB Delta 425. Mine came with a Gorilla XT cage which was great but was too much with the aero pouch, so grabbed a standard composite Bontrager cage off my wife’s road bike and it’s been perfect. I’m not sure if the Delta 425 still comes with the XT or just regular Gorilla.

Hey,

Shoot me an email I might be able to help! The new pouches do tend to help as people have commented back.

If you wanted to try a different cage back there, just make sure it is not too thick and think about how much you are carrying in the pouch which will also play into the grip.

I had a couple people in Kona who were getting the AP300. One had a very thick cage and the grip was ridiculous. Another had such an extremely stuffed pouch, managed to get 2 tubes in there and I could only imagine how much grip it would have!

All the latest models come with the standard Gorilla cage now.

We initially switched over to the Gorilla XT due to the Delta Sonic's new positioning (a few years ago), but found most standard roads didn't need the extra grip so switched everything back to the standard Gorilla.

Hi Candice -

Always great that you come on and reply to these posts.... really so helpful to everyone. Agree the XT probably overkill, but I just repurposed mine to the downtube (I know.... you guys make the aero TT ;-) but I like the ease of having regular cage to swap / stash bottles if necessary.... torpedo BTA, the gorilla XT on frame, aero pouch and delta BTS... perfect long course setup for me.... and aero pouch looks great... brought my bike into shop with it last year and guys hadn't seen that setup... loved it and started carrying it the shop. keep making great stuff!!!

Thanks so much - appreciate the kind comments!

Yeah quite a few people came into the booth after seeing it on other's bikes and wanted it as well :)

Does anyone have any experience of using the Aero Pouch with another manufacturer's metal bracket?

I want a single bottle BTS solution to use with an ISM PN3.0. I'm on a NP3. None of the products from Xlab seem to work except for the Sonic. I feel the attachment mechanism to the seatpost for that isn't great.

I'm thinking of using this from Profile Design. It may require slight longer bolts but I think it would work.

Thanks.

I'm using mine with the Fizik Mistica included bracket. No issues. It is standard water bottle cage bolt diameter and spacing so should work with others.

The Delta Sonic with the Aero Pouch will work...many have used this setup before. We don't sponsor the athlete so out of respect for them won't name them, but a certain talked about pro here has used this type of system for a couple years now!

If you want to try something else - the pouch holes are your standard bottle cage bosses, we just can't guarantee the other brand's carrier strength will support the added weight of the pouch & repair storage.

Get the Zipp Alumina and bend the tab that grabs the indentation in the bottle out a bit. Works like a charm and you can modify the grip to your liking. Really any metal cage would work but I had one sitting around and it did the job.

Originally I had to stop and pull over to get the bottle out with the gorilla cage. It was terrible.

I paired the Delta Sonic XL with the Aero 300 for my first HIM and couldn't be more disappointed.

The Aero 300 barely holds a tube, two tire levers, 1 CO2 and the inflator. I wouldn't be surprised if I damage the tube jamming everything in there.

Then, 15 miles into the race, another cyclist pulled up beside me and told me my back bottle was jettisoned a few hundred yards back.

These are both a waste of money.

Sorry to hear of your experience.

As others have commented on here, it is usually harder to take a bottle out than actually losing the bottle. May I ask what bottle you had?

Secondly - you should be able to comfortably fit a full clincher kit into the pouch. This image shows we even got a small multi-tool in there. Tip is to fit the tube on one side, and then your tire levers, CO2 and inflator on the other side. I am happy to help find a way to pack your items so you don't feel like you will be damaging the tube. Please PM me.
