Aero Helmet Choice For My Position
Right now, I’m using the Smith Podium TT helmet. Previous to the Smith, had the Giro Aerohead but found it front heavy and not a good choice for me for long course racing since it killed my neck.

After looking at some recent race photos, I’m thinking that a snub tail, such as the Smith, may not be the best for my position.

I’m thinking the LG P-09 or the Eoki Konia May be better options? At least that’s what the eye ball aero test is telling me.

Picture is attached and input on your thoughts are appreciated.

Maybe the Kask Mistral or Met Drone WB could work also?

As you know it looks like a good size gap between your head and back

Maybe change your head position and then decide on which helmet, of you can?

Anything is a guess. Nobody can give you an answer worth spending a couple hundred bucks on

Looks good to me...The "space" behind your neck that the eye-ball wind testing instinctively wants to fill up with something, is not based on data or evidence...Another picture of you riding from the front would also help, in order to see how your shoulders and frontal area are incorporating with the helmet...Good luck!

It is impossible to know without testing. You could also simply do a better of tucking your head in and out of the wind.

Thanks for the help! Here’s a head on picture. Mayve widening the pads a bit would help with “turtling” or tucking a bit better.

I wouldn’t widen your pads to drop your head, they look wide enough now. I would maybe try to tilt your bars and extend the reach a touch as you do- I think you would find your head would drop naturally then

Hey how do you like the helmet in general? Hows the ventilation in particular?

It’s not a bad helmet. Never had problems with fogging or over heating in it. It’s loud as all get out though if your head is in a certain position and sounds like an 18-wheeler.

I’d get the p09.
It tested fasted on me in every head position I could try, including yours.
Which as the others have said is pretty rubbish

I’d figure it’s worth a try and do my “at my home aero test” on a hill or something...

I had the P-09 and hated it. Sold it after a few rides. The face shield pinned my nose all the time and that of course sucks if you can't breathe properly on a bike. I have the POC Cerebral and not only am I impressed with visibility (I had Boost 01 and that visor sucked compared to the POC) but how cool it was when riding (cooler than the Boost 01 when I was riding in 32 Celsius). The only thing I did not is that you can't adjust the helmet on the bike with the dial. You have to stop and then take it off adjust and then go again.

Won't work, unfortunately.

Turtle. Pivot where your neck meets your shoulders.
