Garmin 910XT. I don't recommend this watch although it's getting cheaper in a used market.
I have a quick release kit and it's bulky and heavy.
It turns off by itself sometimes as well.
Spend more money and get newer watch.

Tag Heuer Formula 1. I have no idea what my performance metrics are but I feel like a champion.

Fenix 5 Plus

Question...anyone know if there is much difference between this & the 935?

The 935 is essentially a Fenix 5 in a plastic case and $100 cheaper.

The additions for the 5 plus are music, maps and NFC payments.

Check out DC Rainmakers reviews for full details.

I really like my 920 XT except for the following:
1. It won't allow me to use metric for one activity setting and miles for another.
2. Only one alarm possible.
3. Only allows 5 events in a multisport mode..sometimes there are more!
Any watches have the above capabilities?

a gently used garmin 920xt for about $120 is still the best value that can be found out there.

Next races on the schedule: none at the moment

Still using my 920xt. Love it. It just works. Never fails me. I read about the issues people have with newer garmin stuff.... Never have any idea what they are talking about.

Polar FT7 if I want to know HR. Timex Ironman if I don't. Finding I want less and less information these days. But that might be because I think my best days are behind me and all my paces are depressing now!

I'd like to wait for the Wahoo watch.

My 910 actually died on the bike leg of my last race of the season in September.

I bought a Vivoactive 3 and returned it. I would really like to be able to read my powertap wheel.

The 935 and Fenix 5s are at the top of my list. I don't spend money often on the tech stuff so I'm having a hard time making up my mind.

I use a Fenix 3 and have not felt the need to upgrade. I swapped an older Vivoactive for the new Vivoactive HR to try out HR on the wrist and I really don't care for it under most circumstances. I use that for short runs when I can't be bothered to locate my chest strap, but aside from that I use the Fenix. I love that it's not touchscreen, it has really solid battery life, and it integrates with all the rest of my Garmin infrastructure (all my sensors, Vector 3) nicely.

It was also really important to me to have a watch I could wear for everyday purposes. Although the Fenix is a statement piece of jewellery - I am quite a small woman, so it's a big chunk of real estate on my wrist - it still looks like a real grown-up watch that I can wear with a business suit or to a party. (Although my maid of honour wouldn't let me wear it with my wedding dress, so I had to buy a giant wrist-cuff-bracelet-thing to cover up the tan line!) Although the 5s would be more proportionate I wouldn't get the same battery life out of it, and since I'm super slow and headed to Lake Placid next year I want every single one of those battery hours.
