How many of you followed that event this weekend and the "short" CCC edition? Impressive stuff and a stunning course.

I was looking last night what was necessary to qualify for the CCC. Too many miles on my 59-year-old legs to attempt to qualify for the UTMB. I ran a couple of sections of the TMB several years ago when we visited Annecy. The first view of Mt Blanc on the drive to Chamonix was something I hope I never forget.

For CCC likely two 100km races and for UTMB three of them

I like their race entry protocol better than Ironman Kona WC.

I just hiked about half of the TMB earlier this summer. It blows my mind that the women's and men's winners do this in just over and under 24h respectively. Most hiking trips take 9-11 days. Given the elevation change it's mind boggling that they can do the 105mi in about a day...

If you ever get a chance to do the hike, do it. Can't say enough about that trail

Spent Friday night and most of Saturday spectating via race tracker and hanging on the videos.
A friend who I often crew for was doing his second UTMB - I crewed last year for him, and it was the dumbest, most extreme, and just about the most inspiring sporting event I've seen.

It was a great year - he did just over 31 hours, 8 and a bit quicker than the year before - and pretty much paced perfectly.

I'm in awe of the event - and the prevalence of people who just get it done!
