Di2 + Synchro Shift + chain length
Hey collective gang,

I am replacing my chain that I have been using on a mechanical shifter system. I now have a Di2 Synchro Shift configuration (one button TT shifts), and since, with this system, I never get to large cog & largest chainring, should I size it to the largest combination that Di2 allows me to, so that I get a tighter chain throughout, or should I just use the same length as if I could shift that combo?

Thank you!

Yes, size it to the chainring and max cassette cog size you have. If the chain is shorter than it should be you will have more tension than optimal on the RD and your drivetrain will not run as optimally as it should.

What RD and FD are you using - 9100/8000 or 9000/6800 generation?

If you want to dive into a great series of posts on the optimal chain length, check out this thread over on the Weight Weenies forum: https://weightweenies.starbike.com/...php?f=3&t=152332

6800 (6870) generation. Would it be different for the 9100/8000?

I'll be honest, I did already know about that thread, but haven't been able to go through it all. I will, though!

thank you
