Wow, what an amazing podcast! Its very similar to serial. There are 2 seasons, the first covers the Jacob Wetterling kidnapping. That affected my childhood. He was about my age at the time, and lived not far from me. It was a really big deal, and all these years later, it was upsetting to learn how incompetent the investigation team was.

The second season covers the case of Curtis Flowers who was accused of murdering 4 people in a furniture store. Hes been tried for the crime 6 times, and keeps winning appeals becasue the prosecutor does some shady shit.
