Aerobars or not for Trans Vorarlberg
Hi!
First time poster, ever so slightly longer time lurker etc...

So I'm doing the Trans Vorarlberg in about two weeks. The bike leg has a lot of climbing (2000 D+ over 90km). It's an A-B course so I won't roll down the same amount I've climbed, and rather it's not that much flat or down (https://transvorarlberg.at/...ech_16_07_15_low.pdf).
Would it be worth the extra weight of the aerobars even on this course or am I better of racing on a cleaner Road bike? I will race on my canyon ultimate cf sl disc.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, did the trans Vorarlberg 2times. Best result was on a road bike with a draft legal aerobar. There are some sections an aerobar is more comfortable.

I rode a ridley noah with lightweights and a draft legal profile aerobar. So opt for a light bike for the uphill parts and some comfort for the flatter parts of the course.

I'd have liked some aerobars for the first 75km.
Then I would have liked an ebike for the last part.

Overall I'd rather have the bike setup for climbing. So if fitting aerobars compromises that I'd suggest leaving them off.
The fastest riders are on tri bikes, but they're clearly used to climbing on them
