Harley didn't manufacture them. They bought them. They were Ducati's. They also bought a 100cc trail bike from Ducati.

I believe Indian did something similar with a re-badged Royal Enfield in the 1950's or 60's.

Those were known as Floyd Clymer Indians. Floyd Clymer was an American motorcyce pioneer; racer, publisher, dealer and owner of Indian Motorcylces in the 60's. Yes they were rebadged Royal Enfield verticle twins. Similar to Triumphs and BSA's and about as reliable. My friend had one.

Glad you are enjoying your RE. It's the perfect bike for a British car buff.

Very true. Its like owning a old British vintage bike without the pain of owning an old British vintage bike.

Thanks for the info with the RE and Indian. RE is coming our this fall with a 650cc parallel twin remake of the 1960's Interceptor. I have a feeling I'll probably be adding one to the stable. And my wife is planning on exchanging her Yamaha V Star 650 for a Triumph Street Twin.
