Badwater 2018

I’ll be crewing for Ronnie Delzer, bib 73, at Badwater starting on Monday night at 11pm. Ronnie is the current USATF 100 mile trail champion.

Race tracker is http://www.badwater.com/...adwater-135-webcast/

You can follow along on Ronnie’s Instagram account (@ronnie_delzer)

And

I’ll post a lot to the Magnolia Masters(@magnoliamasters) Instagram account, although the cell service in Death Valley isn’t great.

Any questions, let us know.

Tim

Awesome! I remember when Ronnie was still here in Greenville NC burning up triathlons with that quick run of his. Great guy and I wish him luck at BW!

Cheers,

I spent a couple days riding through Death Valley in December and it was incredible, but I could not imagine running there! Good luck to Ronnie and everyone racing.

Good luck to Ronnie, and everyone else! Even for Badwater, I think this one is supposed to be a little warmer than typical.

Everyone out there should probably hope two-time defending champ Pete K has not recovered completely from his 14:04 hundred-miler just two weeks ago.

I just checked and Harvey Lewis is still in the running at Badwater. He’s a former winner of Badwater, and a perennial member of the U.S. 24-hour national running team. But what’s astonishing is that he completed his attempt to run the Fastest Known Time on the Applachian Trail less than a week ago. He missed the all-time record by a couple of days abd us still in the race despite dozens of others dropping out.

Ronnie finished in 17th place. He did post a short report of sorts on FB shortly after the race but I haven't seen a detailed one yet. It was a tough day out there.

Ronnie posted a short report on his Facebook page. I think he’s working on a longer one. It was a very tough day. He got some heat exhaustion around mile 30 and then it was the next 50 miles to keep him going and patched together. Then the last 50 miles he was very strong. I think some of his splits for the last few segments were the fastest of the day.

I’m doing a podcast interview with Ronnie on the race later this week and should have it posted over the weekend. You can find it at Coffee, Beer, Coaching and Dogs on iTunes or on the website.

I posted some videos on my Instagram page of the last 2 miles of the race when he raced Ray Sanchez to the finish up Mt. Whitney. Nothing like a 133 warm up for a 2 mile sprint.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Tim

Karla Kent from Las Vegas, finished as well in about 44 hours. It was her sixth finish in as many years. As she started at age 49 and is still going at 55 (not a Spring Chicken by any means), I have been following her accomplishments at this race.

Thank you for starting a thread on BW and congratulations on your racer's finish!

this is the stuff that just blows my mind. fast ironmans are all well and good, but these are the events that just take it into the stratosphere. much respect.
