Ironsoul: The Iron-Distance Event in Penticton Sunday August 26 *update
Quote | Reply
As we are nearing the event, I suppose it would be a good idea of who is actually going to do this thing. So far we have 3 for sure's (of which 2 are female!!). 4 probably. And 4 for sure volunteers. If you are in, write a comment below. Remember a) You don't have to do it all b) You can do it as a relay c) NO KONA SLOTS

The rest of the details you can see below.

We are ten weeks away from the day we are stealing back the soul of long-distance triathlon from the investors and profit takers.

IronSoul is a day of being with like-minded people, doing what we love, in an iconic location (The classic Ironman Canada course, circa 2006).

No entry fee, no finishers medals, no Kona slots.

Some updates:

  • We have a place to stash your bikes while you swim and run.
  • You have the option of doing part of it, or as a relay.
  • Some on-course nutrition will be provided by F2C. This means that you won't have to carry any huge amounts of stuff, nor will you die of dehydration on the run between the water fountain at Skaha Beach and the one at Christie Park in Okanagan Falls.

If we get a dozen people, I'll be happy. I'm just firming up things with our volunteers. They are pitching the idea of having "roving-aid-stations" along both the bike and run courses.

I'm also pitching the idea to participants RIGHT NOW to do the bike on their "vintage machine" such as Kestrel KM 40, Zipp 2001, Quinta Roo Kilo, Softride, or whatever they were riding back in the day. That would make a hell of a photo op. And, like I say, you DONT have to do the whole thing, but if you don't, however, that may mean you are buying an extra round for us at Salty's (which by the way, it totally up to form).

I'm a maybe, it all depends on my health.

Been rocking a foot/achilles thing that I've been working to improve up to Whistler.

If I survive that and Superleague and not feel totally trashed, I'll be in.

I don't have a vintage ride though.

However, I can rock a speedo.

No problem if you can't do it all. Do what you can & if the injury prevents you from completing the run, I think our roving aid station along East Side Road can pick you up & shuttle you to Salty's for T-3! Another option, of course, is to do the swim & bike, and relay the run.
