I've never been there and I'm unsure how it works. It officially opens at 7am I believe but I'd rather swim there at 5am or so. Is this an issue? Where should I park? Any tips? Thanks in advance!

I assume you mean Walden Pond in Concord, MA. No issues swimming there early in the AM. Parking lot has a self pay machine at the gate (honor system, as the gate is always open) and the lot is pretty empty early in the morning. You'll probably run into other swimmers and could pair up with them if you want to feel safer out on the water. Distance map can be downloaded here:

Good luck!

I think the main gate is usually locked before the official opening time. Shortly, however, they will start opening at 5 am. One thing I've done is to park across Route 2. There is a parking lot at the bottom of the hill on the right hand side (across from the entrance to the high school). I bring my bike and ride the .6 miles to the pond.
A parking pass for the year is $60 and can be purchased at the booth when the pond is open.
Before non-swimmers arrive it's fine to swim out directly from the building at the beach. After other folks arrive you'll need to walk down a bit to past the roped off area to do open water swimming.

If you have a DCR parking pass you can park in the visitor center lot. You can also park down at the boat loading area if it's 5AM-ish. I park in both of those places regularly.
Tips? Here are the Walden Distances via attachment. If you swim in a kite shape you can get a 1/2 Iron distance pretty easily.

Sorry if I misled here. I have not swam there recently, so maybe things have changed. When I did, I went early and parked in the main lot no problem, and paid using the machine.
