Wheelbuilder - Aerojacket Cover - Question
Quote | Reply
Is there a significant aero difference between an Aerojacket Cover from Wheelbuilder on a box rim vs a wheel like a HED Jet 9 or Jet 6?

What is your standard for significant? The difference will vary by tire, frame, etc but for the most part it should amount to less than 5 seconds over 40km

I think conventional wisdom is that a disc is a disc.

You'll be able to make up any (very minor) losses with good tire+tube choice.

Great, thank you!

Yes, I am upgrading my tires and tubes to Conti GP4k2's and using latex tubes. Just purchased a Jet 5 for the front. Sounds like I have everything that I need.

A wise decision. As long as the wheel is true, the hub is sound. And it's not disgustingly heavy. That's a hard setup to beat on many levels.

I didn't use aerojacket (I emailed them. They were not responsive. So I went to Dyma based in Australia)
Put it on a 2002 era Mavic Open Pro rims and instantly I FELT faster (maybe a 1kmh or less but you do feel it when you're moving). No Whoop Whoop sound tho.

+GP4000s2 and Latex of course.

Not really as far as I've seen or read. I used to run a cover on my Zipp 808. Biggest issues for me were clearance issues on my bike and I came upon a good deal for a real Flo Disc.

The wheel cover is a great value and you essentially turn a regular wheel into a disc... for $100.

Another bonus of the cover is that it doesn't count as a disc with transport companies that will NOT transport a disc wheel.
