Low RBC & WBC at the same time - any thoughts?
  • Hubby has been feeling extremely sluggish during his runs/bikes/workouts for the past few months. He is motivated, but his body just can't seem to get going. Eating before/during/after workouts does not seems to help much.
  • Hubby and I are vegetarian. We thought he felt like that due to low iron, which is something I have experienced in the past.
  • Finally hubby goes and gets tested.
  • The results perplex the doctor.
  • Turns out his iron level is normal. B12 also normal. Testosterone, cholesterol, blood sugar all normal.
  • He has LOW Red Blood Count and LOW White Blood Count.
  • His Echocardiogram shows some "deviations" or "abnormalities".
  • Doctor refers hubby to a heart specialist for two more tests (stress test and some other imaging thing).
  • Doctor also refers hubby to a blood specialist.

It will take some time before hubby sees the specialists and gets their input. In the meantime I tried to ask Dr. Google what a combination of low RBC & WBC could mean. Didn't really get any clear answers aside from some sort of blood cancer.

Anyone experience this before? What was your diagnosis?

Best to wait and see what the cardiologist and hematologist recommends or finds as opposed to google-fuing it.

This is definitely better suited being left up to the medical professionals.
