SANTA Rosa IM, wheel choice advise.

Question is: 404 or 808 in the front?
Planning on 808 in the back. Not trying to PR at this race so will ride conservative (5:30+) but thinking the 808 makes sense.

808 front+808 back with a wheel cover

Next races on the schedule: none at the moment

Ride the deepest wheel you can descend quickly and handle / corner with. Wind should not be a concern

More important choice is tire pressure

We recently rode the course. There are a few potholes here and there on Asti Rd and they will sneak up on you (popped a rear tire in one). Then the road gets a bit better at the beginning of Hwy 128 from Geyserville. There is a pot hole section of roadway on the approach to Chalk Hill Rd. Chalk Hill is not bad at all, but there are few rougher sections around the Windsor area. You could probably ride the 808 front, but we usually go 808 rear and 404 front. Aside from the rollers on Dutcher Creek Rd and Chalk Hill, it's a pretty fast ride.

Its a slippery slope for me to make the exact recommendation (i don't know enough about riding style) but at 175lbs you could go as low as 85psi but maybe 90 is safe. The pavement here on the course has EVERYTHING ao its best to be pressured for the light chip seal sections and the few rougher sections

What so you normally run at?

I usually ride 100 in the back and 90-100 in the front.
Rising style, 5th IM, 100+ races, 20years of doing this, so really out there to have fun, not in shape to really get after (which means sub 11 for me)
So hoping to be able to go 12-14 hours.

PM me if you like, we used to work together back a lot time ago at VM.

Thanks for all the help.
