I did Alaskaman last year and will be doing it again this year.

Prepare yourself mentally for the cold, dark water.
Don't set a finish time goal because this race doesn't really compare to other iron distance races.
Lastly, just know that Crow Creek Road on the run is going to be a long, lonesome, uphill trek.....and that's well before the mountain portion of the race.
