Unless your name is Justin.... no, I didn't.

And yours has a special 'nose dive' addition for crank clearance. I took a hacksaw to it for that. (and still got heat for using the wrong saw.... The Internet in a nutshell).
Hey no biggie, not like I'm losing any profit from it :)

The nose dive (elevated rear) is partly for crank clearance (it's a 35x70mm piece of timber), partly for frame size adjustability (it's mounted on a hinge at the bottom, which also helps to fold it up), but mostly it's up so high so I can mount my commuter without removing the front mudguard. Plus it puts the rear end at a more convenient height to work on. And allows the bike to be centred over the legs, which massively improves stability.

Later additions to my stand include a plastic tub screwed on at the rear for tool storage, and some magnets (extracted from a hard drive) glued on to hold tools, screws etc.

Anyway, like you I'm all in the DIY/cheap stand camp.

i would highly suggest staying away from the xlabs little stand. flimsy, cheap, not stable. it was a waste of 50 bucks.
