The advances in laser surgery in the last 15 years have been HUGE. I was not a good candidate 15 years ago either. When I had it done in 2015 it wasn't even close to being a problem.
Lense replacement is an option too. They cut a tiny hole and insert a lense. Healing is only 2-3 days I think.
