Does ‘Ironman Corp’ actually sponsor athletes?

In quotes because I know there isn’t really ‘Ironman Corporation’ but I was listening to podcast of someone claiming to be preparing for IM Arizona and claiming to be sponsored by Ironman themselves??

How does that even work?

It's probably something like Team IM Foundation, but I would argue that is precisely the reverse, I.e., he is sponsoring Ironman.

Not sure they do it anymore, but they used to have pro ambassadors who would only race their races. I know Crowie was an ambassador for a while, I believe Jordan Rapp was as well. Perhaps Jordan can comment.
