Military History Buffs. SAS Rogue Heroes

Ben Macintyre

The first ever authorised book on the SAD

Macintyre is a historian who has written a number of books including Agent Zigzag and Operation Mincemeat

The book is amazing. As someone who had only the briefest knowledge of the origins; that it was started by an eccentric officer named David Stirling, was originally a desert raiding group in North Africa and was very effective.

I had no idea of quite how eccentric, mad, bad, effective and generally bonkers they were.

The story is amazing, I had no idea that the French were involved from its early establishment or the breadth of individuals who comprised its early make up.

It's a cracking read.

It is SAS. I read the book a while ago, it was really good and easy to read. Couldn't put it down, I read it in, I think 4-5 days.

If you haven’t read it already, try Rogue Warrior, a biography of the founder of SEAL team six.

“Read the transcript.”
