Christine- What are the odds of being able to rent a bike locally? (Any tips?)

If by 'local' you mean Vancouver, you should be ok. I wouldn't bank on Whistler proper. PM me for more info.

Most of use have learned that "almost sold out" means you're trying to entice panicked registration and has nothing to do with how many spots actually remain.

26 slots left per Facebook page. These posts tend to very accurate.

I think you're asking a very important question here given the course change. From the looks of the participant list I'm guessing sold out in the full is about 1600 athletes. Last years half had 1257 registered according to sportstats. Not sure where they will consider that race 'sold out'. But pushing 3000 people on that 3 loop bike course at various speed and start times with some technical descents and narrow portions of road does not make me want to race there purely for safety reasons. I'll probably go to Calgary.

Well, there are under 30 slots left. Use the information any way you like.

Yeah, I'm using it to point out marketing tactics of race directors!
Maybe not you. I'm sure the race really is almost sold out.

Good to see the race sold out
Slightly more races sold out this year, perhaps a slight uptick in participants??? Cairns, Nice, Austria, Frankfurt, Placid, all gone too although these are usually the more popular ones

Hey Christine, How are the number looking for the 70.3? I wasn't going to do it, but I think LizzieC convinced me.

Thanks,
Spencer

Typically, when they announce there are less than 50 slots left, they aren't shitting you, and the race sells out in just a few days. By contrast, it took several weeks to sell those last 50 slots for Whistler. But sold out is sold out and both IM Canada and IM70.3 Canada are closed to general registration for this year.
