prob they will want $3k

The entire event (IM) is like "death by 1000 cuts" and the best race is minimizing all those cuts and losing less blood than the other guy. - Dev

These look an awful lot like the Look Keo Power pedals...what ever happened with those? I see some older posts about them on DCR, but then they seem to have disappeared...

I think those were supposed to be terribly overpriced for the quality. These will be terribly overpriced but the quality will probably justify it. Curious to see if they are able to provide the same level of service for these as their cranks over the next few years.

Hmmmm.....could ”KEO-G” mean KEO body with Garmin Vector guts? Has a similar end cap as the Vector3. Not sure where (and why) SRM gets involved though.

Imagine a world where you can buy the power meter internals and use whatever popular pedal body you prefer (Vector3, SPD-SL, Keo)! The Vector2 SPD-SL was a good first step in that direction but this is totally another level.

Might be misunderstanding your comment, but it says SRM on the pedal...

Right, I see that.

I’m just curious as to whether there’s intelligence to the product code and it shows some relationship between Look, Garmin, and SRM. They could all add something of value to this type of project and learn from each other so I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some three way development going on. Again, just a far fetched guess. No intel on my end.

The use case for a pedal-based power meter is that you travel between places where there's already a bike for you.

Or that one has multiple bikes with non-compatible bottom brackets/etc making swappages more challenging.

Hello dcrainmaker and All,

Or a powermeter with the form factor of insoles for your shoes ...... that displayed and recorded data generated running, walking, or cycling ..... and since we usually wear shoes would record total daily work ..... minus naked feet work ... (sleeping, swimming, etc.)

Yeah, we've seen a few companies attempt that. RPM is one, though, that didn't quite work out very well - at least for cycling power with a sport focus.

Most of the work in the insole space is coming from a medical standpoint, then companies attempt to adopt it to running with a focus on running efficiency type metrics. Thus far, nobody has been able to make the business side of that work - mostly because almost every company that's tried has mistargetted their market. They've aimed for Couch to 5K runners, but with a $200-$300 price point.

Eventually somebody will get it right...but my bet is that won't happen to someone else 'in the know' already acquires such a startup and re-brands it accordingly.
