Difference in Coaching certifications

What is the biggest difference in coaching certifications from USAT and Ironman? They look to be about the same as far as what they offer. Would you choose a coach who has one certification versus the other?
Thanks for any insight

To me, certifications are the least important part of a coach.

Anyone can attend the weekend seminar and become USAT certified Level 1.

And if a coach was using an Ironman certification as a credential, I would value them even less.

What matters to me:
1) Will we get along?
2) Can they help me reach my goals? Have they helped other reach theirs?
3) Are they relatively affordable for what I'm getting? Are they in it for the sport or just to make a buck?

Don't forget Slowtwitch Coaching Certifications! We focus on a single topic (swim, bike, run, cycling power) for 2 days, so we go really in depth. USA Triathlon Ian Murray leads the courses.

You can find more info on them here:

We have a swim course coming up May 18-19 in DC. Coaches earn 9 USAT CEUs.
