I keep seeing the Apple TV 4k recommended for running Zwift.. $180-200.

If your sensors are ANT+ and non-Bluetooth you'll need to use something like this to convert http://npe-inc.com/cableinfo/

I 2nd all the AppleTV 4K suggestions. It'll run on any TV too, the name '4K' is a little misleading.

Here's the full rundown/setup/what you can expect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KVkjmeW6AM

The only drawbacks are no direct ANT+, and limited direct Bluetooth connections. There are workarounds for those.

Cheapest way to get an AppleV 4K right now is to do the DirecTV Now (their streaming service) deal they have going. You basically prepay for 3 months for a total of $105+tax and get a free AppleTV 4K.

Apple tv. get a cheap refurbished one for $129 from apple.com
no need to spend extra on 4k... the game itself is not 4k so it doesn't matter. read the DC rainmaker review of the apple tv for zwift, you might need an extra ant to bluetooth bridge because apple tv is limited to max 2 bluetooth connections (+1 for remote) so if you have a PM, an HRM and a smart trainer you need something like the Cable gizmo (http://npe-inc.com/cableinfo/)

Another vote here for the Apple TV. I use mine with the Zwift mobile link app for three Bluetooth devices (wahoo kickr, cadence and hrm) and it works very well as long as your WiFi signal is strong, otherwise there can be the occasional network hiccup.

The Ipad looks like a great option, I use a USB garmin stick I plug in and it reads my quarq powermeter, can I plug this garmin thing into the USB on the IPAD? I thought IPADS dont have a USB port because they are apple?

Saw an article this morning that mentioned Toys'R'Us blowing out its inventory of Apple TVs for ridiculous prices right now (in-store only, and apparently varies by store).

Might be worth checking out if you have a store near you.

It does vary by store - I called my local one and they have no discount on Apple products. My 4 year old son was a bit bummed that we wouldn't get to go!

I just moved into the modern world and bought a Elite Direto from my 20 year old Fluild 2. I have a similar question.......I thought I was going to be able to use an old ipad I had laying around, but turns out it's a Gen 2 and not compatible with Zwift. Looking at Zwifts website I see they talk about using Apple TV or just using your ipone with an AV adapter to HDMI.

It's seem like as long as I have an iphone, there is no need for Apple TV - correct? Simple question I have is as long as I have an iphone is there any "need" or real difference between using the iphone w/ AV to HDMI connector and iphone and apple airplay to Apple TV??

https://zwiftinsider.com/...-your-big-screen-tv/
Digital AV Adapter to HDMI: This is a little adapter that connects to your iPhone/iPad lightning port and lets your display whatever on your screen to an HDMI equipped TV.Alternatively, if you don’t want to use a digital AV adapter, you can use an Apple TV to Airplay content on your iPad/iPhone to your TV. This method works ok but you might experience some disconnects or lags.

There's a native AppleTV app for Zwift so you wouldn't need to Airplay from you iPhone. I have an iPad on my treadmill and have used Zwift on that for running, and the iPad is connected to a 27inch monitor in front of the treadmill with the Apple Lightning-to-HDMI cable. Works great, although I usually just listen to music when I run on the treadmill. Wife watches TV though so works. I would get the Apple branded one though, spend the extra $20.

Why not use an old PC. The experience you will get with a PC and Monitor or Large TV if you have one vs using an Iphone or Tablet is night and day. Also note that the do have an Android app as well now. But again big difference riding using your phone versus a decent screen. (I use a 6 YO windows laptop and a 50 inch TV via HDMI cable.)

Target and Walmart has capable NEW laptops for $180 to $200. HDMI output to TV's. USB ports for ANT dongle.
That's my plan to just have a dedicated cheap laptop since I'm not an Apple person.
Done.

I use a Surface Pro 3 (since this is an older generation, used ones can be found on the cheap).

Combined with the below adjustable (very strong) holder, placed in the holder and clamped on a small portable tray where I place water, food, remote controls, etc. The set-up works great
