Hmm, I have not tried a trainer tire (I did fry a low end tire on the trainer once; "Felt" branded tire that came with the bike did not enjoy a 6 hour trainer ride ;). I did ensure my tire was consistently pumped to 100 psi each ride (and didn't move the retention knob once calibrating etc...). It's a moot point now given the brick status. Happy with my Kickr and connecting to powertap hub for power input (for what it's worth the Kickr reads a little high as well but the Vortex was astronomically high).

Yes on warranty and no response. I probably could have pushed it more but gave up after 3-4 tries. Moved back to a dumb trainer for a while until the Kickr. All around just a bad experience, glad not everyone has dealt with the same. My brother's Vortex works just fine although his reads super high too if he uses its power versus the powertap as well.
