Pit Bulls vs. Guns

Yeah, buckle up. Time to ban pit bulls.

Dog Breed...Deaths...% of Total
Pit bull...254...64.8%
Rottweiler...43...11.0%
German shepherd...15...3.8%
American bulldog...14...3.6%
Mixed-breed...13...3.3%
Mastiff/Bullmastiff†...12...3.1%
Husky...12...3.1%
Unknown/Unreleased...12...3.1%
Combination‡ ≤ 7 4.2%+

But wait, here's an intellectual refutation of these stats by the unbiased Huffington Post.

Now, reread that Huffington Post article and replace "pit bull" with "guns".

Cue the but, but, buts...it's different...

It's only different because you want it to be different.

Well argued. Impeccable logic and debate.

It would be a more accurate comparison to replace "Pitt Bulls" with "Assault Weapons" but that would still be stretching the point quite a bit.

The problem is it's not clear what you want to argue or debate.

Pit bulls are already banned in Ontario and I am ok with that.

Boo hoo... buy a different breed.

How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?

My issue with pit bulls or any other similar breed isn’t if they are more or less likely to bite, its the outcome when they do.

I don’t get the appeal of having a potentially lethal pet, when there are plenty of options where the risk is all but nil.

Wouldn't want to mess with one of these: Kangal - Bite 743 PSI

I don't see dachshunds on that list. Dachshunds, the BB gun of dogs. California approved.

I grew up with dachshunds. None were biters but often heard they are one of the more likely breeds.

That's because everyone thinks, "Oh, it's so small and cute." So they just walk over and attempt to pet it. They don't do that with a bigger dog. Factor that into dachshunds being apprehensive about being suddenly approached by strange people and people get bitten.
