I need someone, probably European, to explain...
this to me. When I was in Europe around this time of year, and when I was trying to watch Cyclocross worlds this weekend, I would stumble across these shows on TV. I think they are Dutch or Belgian or both, but looks like a big party in a hall, mixed age crowd from old people to young, dressed in really bright, crazy clothes and cheesy music acts, or one time it was people dressed up goofy, appearing to do some kind of comedy act.

Any way, does anyone know what these are?

Is it some kind of special annual celebration or is this a year round thing?

They are kind of hard to take your eyes off of, in a train wreck way.

So looking on Youtube, I think it is Dutch Carnival.

Too bad you missed the 12 hour broadcast on wood. It held a 20 share in Norway.

It’s also a big celebration in Germany, particularly in Köln. Kids all over Germany will wear costumes to school tomorrow.

These kinds of celebrations are big in Germany and the Benelux. Most towns/villages have a hall for the community to get together and party. When i lived in Germany the local Schutzenhalle was the place to be, beer, sausage, lederhosen and oompah bands. I had some good weekends in that place as a young kid.
