Stolen truck

Truck was stolen yesterday.

They have not found it yet. If the do not by tomorrow morning insurance will write it off.

Anyone have any tips for me in case they do find it?

What do I need to look for as far as hidden damage etc.?

What is the smoked in it, etc. Should the insurer be responsible for cleaning, checking the mechanical system.

No clue. I am merely here to be a smart ass.

Move away from Saskatchewan. It's clearly a crime-filled cesspool.

Two nights ago I left my garage open all night long. In the morning my bright yellow Cervélo (which indecently hasn't been ridden in two years) was still sitting there, ready to be stolen.

If found they will let you know what condition it's in ie, stripped, flat tires, or looks operational. Inventory the contents of the truck to see what's missing and Anyang not belonging to you, weapons, blood, dime bags, needles etc.
I'm guessing you had an insurance and registration info that might have been in the glove box, they will have address info to be aware of that possibility.

You then should look to see if the truck is operational and report that to your insurance rep. In the event it needs to be towed.

A few months ago I was out hiking and came up on a jeep parked on a pedestrian trail, clearly someone ditched it after the steering arm broke. Days later rangers told me it had been stolen.

Good luck.

I had a 4Runner stolen years ago. It was recovered about 4 days later sans wheels and personal items that were inside.

You should expect your insurance company to pay for the truck to be in the same condition as it was prior to being stolen and to be compensated for any stolen personal items. This includes an interior detail if needed.

Sorry this happened - it’s very aggravating.

Hate to break it to you...

In all seriousness, I hope they find it and someone just took it for a joyride. Happened to a friend in Portland - car was stolen and found a few days later about 20 miles away in perfect shape.

If a vehicle of mine where stolen and the insurance company wanted to return it I'd tell them to stuff it up their ass. They have absolutely no idea of it's previous condition or how it was treated during the theft period.

The best case scenario is they pay you for a new truck(or whatever value yours was) and then they find it a bit later with a few dings. Sometimes they will give you the truck back for a few 100 dollars just so they dont have to deal with it, you put a few bucks into it and it is almost as good as when it was stolen.

I have a friend in AZ that this happened to, got the new van, got the old one back minus some amount, and he unloaded it for a $4k profit. Most the time they dont want to deal with your old stolen truck if it has any damage at all. They usually sell at auctions for a few hundred bucks so if they can get that or a little more and not have all the associated costs of storage, auction fees, etc, then it is a win in their eyes...

Just give it a quick cleaning and you'll be good to go.
