Chronic bloating?
Hi ladies,
I'm hoping some of you have some insight into my issues here. I have been dealing with chronic bloating for almost a year now. The symptoms range from mild to severe, but never seem to really resolve. I've had a battery of tests and have ruled out Celiacs. I recently saw a naturopath and she did not think my symptoms indicated SIBO as I'm lucky enough not to have the additional symptoms associated with IBS (frequently diarrhea and/or constipation). This also leads me to believe that, while possibly playing a role, there are no strong food sensitivities driving it.
Any thoughts on this? Anyone been down a similar road?
Thank you all!

When was the last time you had a gyn exam? Did you discuss this with the gyn? I don't want to alarm you. However, you should be aware that chronic bloating can be one symptom of ovarian cancer. This is a disease that is often missed in the early stages because there are not any routine screening tools for it.

Yes! You are right. Fortunately I had a pelvic ultrasound last winter and it checked out ok. Thank you for bringing that up.

Oh good. I hesitated. A dear colleague of mine died this year from ovarian cancer, so I'm particularly sensitive to the issue.

Have you actually taken a food sensitivity test, such as with 100+ different foods?

Indeed I have. And I've heard mixed reports about their legitimacy/accuracy at actually reflecting true food issues.

That is true, as with many things in life not working for everyone. However, if you had typical results, such as sensitivity to dairy, eggs, shellfish, and nuts, then by all means, avoid those foods altogether.

The other source of inflammation would be thyroid/hormone imbalances that may also be detected with testing. Good luck and keep us posted on your results!

Yeah, all very true. Probably worth looking into again. It's been several years since I've had it done.
Hopefully I didn't sound snarky in my previous reply!

No worries; I'm only here to help!

I have gotten the Food Sensitivity and hormone /thyroid panels done for the last 4 of the last 5 years and it has shown positive results. I lost 4 lbs in less than 2 weeks without dieting after I found out that the eggs I love, didn't like me. After I stopped eating them, the belly pooch I was trying to get rid of went away on its own. I got it done yearly because my hormone replacement therapy caused the numbers to change while I was trying to get dosages that were best for me.

Not saying that it will work that way for you, but at my age (nearly 60) many things, including my digestive processes, don't work as well as they once did.

Have your eating habits changed at all since the problem started? Intake of way more raw vegetables or other kinds of fiber? I used to eat absolutely massive salads for lunch or dinner every day and bloated like crazy.
