Austin rides
Hi all..
Will be visiting a friend and staying downtown this week from Tues-saturday. Anyone know of any group rides or routes of varying distances? I am flexible with times so am open to any recommendations. I do have a car if riding to the start is not an option.........thanks

Christine

first - you'd have more responses to this on the open forum.

But Austin is full of rides. Just google. Or go to Bicycle Sports Shop for some rides. Also Austin Tri-cyclists and bike world, Austin Cycling Association would be places to start.
Have fun in Austin.

Hi there, we did a short training vacation in Austin last February and had a blast. We did a Saturday club ride that went out from Mellow Johnny's bike shop (we rented road bikes that week). It was really fun but it was a huge group of around 50 people all on road bikes. We stayed in the front group which was faster but also a bit safer (there was a bike crash at the end of the pack that morning and someone had to go to the hospital). The Austin Tri Cyclist might also have some rides. At least visit their shop as it has tons of fun gear for all three sports. We were in there shopping for a while. Have fun! Austin is awesome! You'll love running along Lady bird lake too. And don't miss the opportunity to swim in Barton Springs. Open water swimming in February was a novelty for us!
