Last year, me and 47 other triathletes competing in the Demi Esprit 1/2IM in Montreal were DQ'd for "cutting" the run course. I know it's our responsibility as racers to know the course, but when almost half the field goes wrong (some directed by volunteers) then there's clearly a problem.
I was very dissapointed as I had finally broken 5hrs and was told 3 weeks later that I missed a mile or two.

Yesterday I got a letter from the race organizers (this is 2 months after the race) telling me that all of the DQ'd athletes are invited to race next year - free of charge. I thought that was a very nice gesture. I was going to return anyway as it was an excellent course (from what I saw) and a fun race. With all the negative press that race organizers are getting, I wanted to point out one who is trying hard to make things right.

They also talked about course changes that will ensure this never happens again. Good stuff.
