I just mounted a tyre to my new Lew Sydney rim (purchased from Craig @ International Bicycle) and discovered a new wrinkle in mounting the tyre: for those of you who use toothbrushes (instead of hobby brushes or pipe flux brushes), I have discovered one of the best toothbrushes- the Oral B with the round brush tip. Not only does it clean the plaque off of your teeth in a better way, but the round tip helps disperse glue in an even, down the centre way. You also end up with a little glue down the sides of the looser brush (behind the round tip), but you can wipe the excess onto the rim (and thusly use less glue from the tube) and use the round tip to spread the glue.

I found that it was easy to get a clean mount with this method. Hope I have helped with this.
