Need a simple formula for a recommended seat height for tri bike. Not ready to do an expensive (but worth it) fit. Thanks in advance!!!

If I remember right the old method was to start at .883% of the total lenghth of your leg - from top to the bottom of your shoe sole (wearing the shoes that you will ride with)

What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

The standard is the LeMond method in which you measure your inseam in sock feet with a book under your crotch. The measurement taken is from the floor to the top of the book. Then multiply this by .883. The seat height is measured from center of BB to top of seat. This is for a road bike so for a tri bike you may wish to lower slightly. Fine tune by getting out and riding to see what feels best.

Dan feels that a better way is to measure your knee angle which he feels should be 153-155 degrees. Described here http://www.slowtwitch.com/...techctr/bikefit.html

Related to the subject of angle at knee extension on the bike: is there a minimum angle at the top of the stroke that ought to be observed for keeping the knees healty?
