San Diego cycling routes?
Hi-

I'm gonna be down in S.D. with a friend from Friday-Monday of this week. I'm looking for cyling routes between 20-70 miles. Could anyone suggest a good one. Don't know where I'll be staying yet either... any suggestions?

Also, anyone do that Coronado swim before? How is it?

Thanks,
DKSF

I'm not sure where you live now, but if you've never seen a serious cycling town like SD, you should spend one of your weekend days on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH for those in-the-know) between Encinitas and La Jolla. Being born and raised in Michigan, it was an incredible shock to see the number of cyclists darn near outnumber the cars the first time I did that ride. Awesome! And it's a good ride for those who aren't from the area because you really can't get lost.

If you will be ready to go 7:00 AM Friday, I'd definitely go with the Scripps Ranch Old Pro's 50 mile ride. Gary has the web site above. You can sign up the morning of for $35 I believe. That includes a T-shirt, aid stops and a Beer Garden!

The coast ride is nice if you've never done it but the PCH will be very busy this weekend. I suggest getting out early before all the beach goers get on the road. Mission Bay Park to downtown Carlsbad and back is about 55 miles.

Have fun!
