long ride 2 weeks before IM Switzerland
Two weeks before IM Switzerland I go to holiday in the Swiss alps. I wonder if I should ride there from home.
This would be a 180km ride with 2500m height (this is what the travel planer says. It counts every meter height you gain). Until the final 15km it is flat and some rolling hill. Then the road climbs about 900m out of the valley.
Do you think this is to close to IM Switzerland to do such a long ride? Or is it better do to a shorter ride (drive some parts of the way)?

That is a lot of hills, but two weeks out, it would seem fine to me. Even I can recover from a bike ride after two weeks.

Thanks for your reply. It is hilly but I am used to hills and I am good climber.
I just checked the 36 weeks IM training plan on trinewbies.com. It recommends a 6 hour ride (slow long ride).
Triathlete magazine (Gale Bernhardt) recommends in '13 Weeks to an Ironman' a 5hour ride and a 3 hour run the following day.
Tapering is in the two weeks before the IM.

Therefore I decided I will ride to holiday (if the weather is ok).
