First time poster, but longstanding triathlete and member of Transitions (Aussie forum).
Thought I would let everyone know about UpUnder 2011:
UpUnder 2011 is an unassisted 4200km charity bike ride, commencing on 30 July 2011 from South Point in Victoria and finishing on 5 September 2011 at Cape York in Queensland. This is literally from the bottom to the top of Australia.
The route will force Chris Jones (Melbourne, Australia) and Jon Shorter (Chester, England) to tackle diverse cycling conditions:
· snow and dirt tracks in Southern Victoria;
· long stretches of highway through Central Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland; and
· sand tracks, river crossings and 4x4 trails in far North Queensland.
UpUnder 2011 was an idea which arose from our desire to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and the Prostate Cancer Charity UK. Despite being the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, public awareness for the disease is not parallel with the risk which it poses to male health. We have a strong desire to change this.
We're looking for corporate sponsors who would like to make a donation to our charities in return for advertising opportunities (media/jersey sponsorship/website/events) or would like to get on board as our official bike or gear supplier.
